No way. It's not because of musical/artistic talent, but Elvis was much "bigger" because he was not only the #1 musician of his time, but he was also a movie star and had the charisma to turn on the women. Hendrix was the best rock guitarist of his era, but that's it. Like somebody else said, his singing was of questionable quality, and he never made it in Hollywood.

To be big, one has to have charisma. There was no shortage of charisma with Elvis. Jimi wasn't considered charismatic, strictly talented.
You can't really compare the two. Elvis was strictly a singer (some would say actor also, but I think that's debatable).
Jimi was a guitar God. His singing ....... well, we'll just leave it at that. Everyone has their own opinion.

Like it or not Elvis was a "popstar". Definitely had more talent than todays crap but none the less pop. Hendrix the better artist no question but Hendrix would have never had the mass appeal.

I definitely think he is already as big, it's just that the people that listen to Jimi don't make as much of a deal of it all the time. No one says stupid stuff like "Oh my god, Jimi's alive!" because we're not freaking idiots. We know Jimi's dead, and that his music lives on. Elvis, however, is just dead.

He wasn't that big. He had a unique guitar act which made him popular with the youth of the time, but he really wasn't that versatile and he was so into that psychedelic drug induced scene it's hard to say . I think he would have needed to change his style somewhat or at least branch out. Would he be bigger than Elvis? Not a chance!
