I think it is to keep the hot or cold air outside from getting inside. Also it helps with the bugs.

Since most people tend to release a little gas before going into an enclosed area, it might be a way for the store to force that little whiff of unwanted air back onto the street (or mall walkway). OK, that's just a nutsy theory of mine...in reality, it's a way to keep unwanted insects out of the building, but come on, who HASN'T let one just before going inside a building?

It's a secret that the government doesn't want you to find out. When you walk into a store, the air blows a mist of the chemical spendtoomuchious, which causes you to spend all your money there. They want your taxes!

That is to keep the bugs and flies out of the store. They can't enter with the air blowing outward.

It's probably the central air blowing cool air.

At the ENTRANCE and EXIT doors, it's to keep flying insects out. It creates a barrier of air which most flying insects can't penetrate through.
