You could phone a cab service and get an estimate..

I don't think it would be THAT expensive, although I've never done it so I'm not exactly sure. The train station is in downtown Providence, not near the airport. (They're extending train service down to the airport but as someone said before it won't be open for a couple years). However it's not all that far to drive from downtown Providence to the airport, so I doubt that a taxi would be outrageously expensive. Also there IS bus service - but you'd have to walk to the RIPTA (city bus) terminal and wait for a bus. I think the best option would be to take the train to Providence and get a taxi - it's cheaper than a taxi all the way from Boston but still not too inconvenient. There are plenty of taxis outside the Providence train station.

If you take the commuter rail to Providence Station, you still have about a $35 or $40 cab ride to the airport. The airport is in Warwick, the train station is in Providence.

You can wait 3 years or so when the trains will be extended to the new Green Airport commuter rail station.

If you want to go now, there is frequent (4 bus routes) by RIDot RIPTA from downtown Providence to the airport, but RPTA in its genius runs the busses out of its terminal without their passing by the rail station, which is 3 blocks away.
