I don't blame you a lot of people are changing. I use to use Nutro dry food for my adult dogs, but NOT any more. I have always used Merrick wet and dry for my Senior dogs and pups. Since this recall I have switched to Merrick for everything. Their food is USDA Approved, and dogs love it! They also have sample packs for about $6, but I can guarantee even the most finicky dog or cat will love this food. I have never seen even 1 dog walk away from a bowl of Merrick until the bowl was empty.
You can go in their website: merrick.com, and view their products, they also have a store locator for the U.S.. And if you like their products they have a club you can join for a nominal fee and it offers amazing discounts throughout the year.
I really hope you will take the time to view their website and try their product, you will surely be glad you did.

First, many dog owners feed their dogs Eukanuba, as dogs get less output, as it is better digested. I don't have dogs, but realize that seems to be a dedicated group of people who do nothing but badmouth IAMS. Good luck with your Siberian kitten, but realize there is really no such thing as a hypoallergenic cat, but varying degrees of less problems. If you switch the cat to a different food, do it gradually to avoid tummy upsets and understand that your cat has to agree. If your cat does not like the new food, your cat will not eat it. Your cat is the decider on what to eat, and your opinion doesn't count at all. Royal Canin is a quality food, although I would rather see a meat as the first ingredient then chicken meal. As guess what? IAMS original has meat as the first ingredient. Wellness certainly is good food, but is it better then others? Hard to say. Most kittens will browse, eating throughout the day and night, so dry kibble works well for that. Canned food cannot be left out for a long time or it will spoil. But you will find strong opinions on wet versus dry, and particular brands. Mine are on dry kibble, have a fountain, and get a treat of wet food once a day. My oldest now is over 14 1/2, and in perfect health. I have multiple cats. And the oldest cat on record, Creme Puff, who lived to the age of 38 and a few days was on Purina dry kibble. So genetics plays a strong role.

strange... i work at a walmart and from what i've gathered it's only canned and wet dog and cat food that was recalled. This is in canada though so there may be differences. It's just cans and small pouches that you need to watch out for in the iams brand... i would not suggest mixing these with the new food as there have been cases of animals being poisoned. Switch to a dry food for now, i probably wouldn't trust Iams as you can never be too safe when it comes to your best buddy. Science diet and Purina have been selling well as a good alternative.

Hi, I strongly recommend the Wellness brand for cat food (don't have any dogs). My cats looooove it, and it doesn't have the by-products that many other commercial brands have. The local Whole Foods stores carry it, and it's been a real favorite of my cats. It's a bit expensive, but worth the money. Also, when switching brands, I've found that the best way to do it is to mix them 50/50, and them slowly reduce the amount of the old brand 10 percent each week. That way the cats gets used to the taste of the new food. Good luck!

Dont just switch your pets diet abruptly. This may cuase upset stomachs and cause diarrhea. Mix the new food with the old food half and half for at least a week adding more of the new diet the following week. By the third week they should be able to eat the new diet fully without any problems.

i've been feeding my cat Iams for years... and have never had a problem even with the recall. that recall includeds most major brands of moist pet food...not the dry. So if you're only feeding dry then you have nothing to worry about unless something else changes(then everyone has to worry).

If you have a costco near you, check out the kirkland pet food. It's made by the same company that makes chicken soup but is cheaper. Kirkland is good quality dog food and is also not made by menu foods.
