Hellpp I need a contriversial topic!?

Question

I have to do this huge essay and presentation on a contriversial issue. It needs to be something that would keep a class full of 16 year olds intrested and it can't be something that's really over done like abortion or the death penalty. I'm looking for something kind of exciting..shocking maybe. I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you.

do video games increase tendencies towards violence?
i saw a study where it said alcohol and tobacco were found to be more dangerous and addictive than marijuana - so you could do something with that
too much sex and violence on tv?
should the legal driving age be raised?
should the draft be reinstated (more people than you expect will get worked up about politics)

you could do a presentation on congress's new act to remove all troops from iraq by fall 2008 (the president says we should continue to fight over there until our mission is complete). for sixteen year-olds, you could talk about uping the driving age to 18 before getting a license and why it may or may not be a good thing. i don't know where you are from but you could do something about california's three strikes laws and whether or not it should be implemented in in your state or done away with completely (three strikes law- if a person is convicted of three felonies then they automatically receive a life sentence). since it has been put into action california has but more than a dozen prisons as compared to building one university in the same time span. you can do a web search on three strikes laws to get all the information you will need.

Processed foods are not only NOT good for you but they make them to be addictive....ie....oreo cookies
The obesity is this country is getting to pandemic proportions and you wonder why? This is it.
When you look at someone who is very over weight you can have a little more compassion for them. You see what's going on with them is that they body can NO LONGER process out all the CHEMICALS that they are consuming.
The toxicity is trapped in the fat and just keeps ADDING to their ever growing size. It is stored there like winter storage
bins. It's a vicious cycle...they keeping eating and yes some people have no control because they are a a saturation point of no return. The food is 'CALLING THEIR NAME as it were.
Go do your research and see if this is something you want to do a paper on. You might even be able to get some people back on fresh food to save their lives. Getting off the sugar is pretty hard but it's been worth it. I have also gotten off insulin shots (which put 85 lbs on me) and a diabetic drug, avandia (one more to go) I've lost 25 lbs just since January because the biotics program I'm on is healing me back to balance in my body...When the body is back to balance the weight loss occurs without much other effort!!! But I'm also starting a walking program and weight lifting too, smile...
