I am curious to know if the baby is allowed to wear outfits from home during the hospital stay or if he is required to wear what the hospital gives you. Do I just need the one outfit for coming home or additional ones also. Sorry this is kind of a dumb question but I really have no clue.

Hi,

Baby is allowed whatever you want to put on him/her. With hospital, it depends on how labour is. If you have a simple birth, that requires you to stay in for 2 days then i would say 4 outfits, in case baby vomits etc. Plus you want to change baby not heep it in the same outfit.

If you have a c-section, like i did (emmergency) then you may require around 7 outfits. Due to the time you have to stay in hospital.

Or you can use the hospital clothes and only take one outfit for the day you leave.

Good luck

Carla

The baby only needs one outfit and make sure you take a receiving blanket and t-shirt because most hospitals don't let you keep the one that they let the baby wear. You can always ask the hospital before hand to be sure.

You take as many outfits as you want.. The hospital has no rule against the baby wearing there own clothing.. They will just let you know that there is no gurantee that you will get the same thing back.. I always did so you really dont have to worry about that. They just have to tell you that..

We only brought the one that we took our kids home from the hospital in. I'd actually never seen anyone dress their kids in anything other than what the hospital provides until about a month ago when a friend had their baby. They brought clothes for the baby to wear the whole time they were there.

Call and check with your hospital to be sure. Our hospital provided them with their one bodysuit and if they soiled that then they had little paper "shirts" for them to wear. We were encouraged to let them wear bodysuits(onesies) from home. The newborn size or 0-3months will be good. Plan on taking 3-4 onesies if they dont give you more than one from the nursery. Also take socks(to put on their feet AND to put on their hands if you dont have the little mittens). My daughter managed to scratch herself all the time in the hospital.

Also take a going home outfit.

Well I would say one good cute out fit for the pictures the hospital takes, and one for going home in that is suitable for the weather. They have clothing for the baby there. And they have diapers. But you should still bring your own, just in case. Good luck and congrats.
