the proportioning valve is not too far from the master cylinder, look to see where all the lines connect coming off the master cylinder, they all go into the proportioning valve, 2 lines will run off it to the front wheels and the other 2 lines will go to the rear brakes, there could be an obstruction in the valve for the rear brakes, you could take both lines out and have someone press the brake pedal and see if it squirts out fluid and if it does hook the lines back up while he is still holding the brake to the floor and then start bleeding your rear brakes like normal, it might take a little while to get all the air out of the rear lines.

Did you have an assistant helping you with the bleeding process? Remember, you have to close the bleeder screw before the pedal is released after each and every pump of the brake pedal. You also have to remember to stop periodically to keep adding to the reservoir. Seeing that these are the rear brakes, that's a lot of line to get fluid through if you're not patient.

Something's definitely not right here. Is it a new master cylinder? If so, did you bench bleed it first? This is very important!

If you've followed the bleeding process correctly and are still having problems, you could have a bad proportioning valve.

I takes time for the fluid to get yo the back, and the valve is just below the master cylinder if you have one on a 1978. The lin goes from the master cylinder into the valve if it goes to the wheels you don't have one.

try and check for fluid before and after the
proportioning valve.be careful not to twist off the lines.they rust and the line will twist.then you will have to change that to.probly be easer than the brakes were.but watch close.
