I don't know if you could call it an organ transplant, but I was born with a deformed right ear. I had surgeries when I was 7 and when I was 12. They took skin from my inner thigh and cartelige from my hip and grafted it into...well...it doesn't look like my left ear, but looks better than it did when I was born. At the time (24 years ago) there wasn't the technology to find out if I had an ear drum down there, and they were afraid to hit the nerve, so I have been unable to hear out of that ear for my whole life. I recently found out that I DO have an ear drum, and have been screening doctors to see if I can find one who will do another operation, hopefully to open the ear canal. It's scary, and I've backed out twice, but I think if I can find the right doctor I will go through with it.

Fortunately, I have not had anything like that happen to me. I do donate blood regularly and I am in the national blood marrow donor registry. In fact, I was almost a match for somebody once.
I've also have an organ donor card. My philosophy is that the body is just a shell, so the doctors can take whatever that can use if I were to pass away.

Yes. I had a kidney Transplant in November of 2004. My kidney failure probably could have been prevented if I'd paid better attention to my blood pressure. And don't think it only happens to the elderly. I was only 22 when I started dialysis.

Not I but a close acquaintance. Everyone should consider being and organ donor. A super guy is around through the selfless act of a stranger. For this I am most thankful.

I've had blood transplants. And once I actually had a skin transplant. They aren't what you'd normally think of as organs, but without them, I'd be dead!

No, I was born with damaged kidneys and I was going to need a transplant at 12. I have healed up okay. Because of being born with bad kidneys it has given me really bad anemia, a blood disorder. I just deal with it. =)
