When you are reading a book, do you find conversations boring?
Um...like a group of people discussing just their ideas and fears and such.

Boring or no?

Conversations between characters is one of my favorite parts of books. That way, you learn what the entire group is thinking or feeling, not just the central character. So to me, no, they're not boring.

Yes I do find it very boring. Of course the real problem, as I found out the hard way, is that a lot of the critical information to understand the book and the characters is included in that dialog. Therefore, as boring as it may be, yes you and I both have to read it. Otherwise we'll never 'get' the story.

It depends on who the author is. There are some writers who are awful at dialogue! My personal pet peeve is the "info-dump" conversation where it is obvious that the author is just trying to give you as much background as possible in a few sentences. It's never natural, and it's not easy to read.

However, there are some writers who can create amazingly natural conversations. It flows like people really talk and picks up the pace of the story.

So, for me, there's no one answer to this question!

It depends. If the dialogue seems real and is how people actually talk to one another, I love it. But I hate when it feels 'scripted'. Usually the dialogue (even if it feels fake) is important to the story though, and different people have different opinions on this.
For example, I love the discriptions in books and the detail, but my sister would rather read books that are ALL DIALOGUE and no details.

Bottom line: NOT BORING. If the writer's done it right they're awesome and if not they make me want to tear said book in half.

Do you mean dialog in the book? It depends on how well the book is written, I guess. I think I know what you mean, though. I have read books where the characters have long conversations. I start skimming the pages at that point.

I like conversations between many people, but not those stupid ones where only one person is talking and they keep going on, and on, and on about something super boring. I also hate parts that are too descriptive, I would rather use my imagination!!

Depends on the situation, and the way the dialogue is written. In classics I generally don't love to read conversations, but more recently written stuff, I don't mind it at all.

no! I sometimes think the book is boring, but Manga can be more interesting than any other book I have read

conversations can tell you so much about the character themselves and drop hints and whatnot. it's all about relating to that character in some since i think.
