I want to do my hair in an updo that will make me seem more attractive but I need it to be simple. Should I wear a little make-up? I don't know what to do.

Really open up and smile alot. I tip well, over 20%, if my waitress seems happy to serve me, she comes back very frequently, and takes good care of me. You have to be like a mom. You don't want to hover, but you want to be genuinely friendly.

To make more money it's more than your hair and makeup. Your make up should be simple and waterproof, lots of steam and sweat when you wait tables, and you don't need it running or anything. You need to keep your fingernails clean, food off your uniform, no runs in your hose. Smile, do the one minute check back, and a couple more to be safe. Stay on top of "bobbing heads", meaning watch for people who are looking around the room. You also need to multi task, and learn a lot of information about events in your area. Learn the menu, actually tell people what you feel is good on the menu, not the canned "it's all good". And above all enjoy your job. If you enjoy what you do, then the customers will enjoy you.

At the end of the day, even the most unattractive of waitresses can earn a good tip. All you need to do is be polite, patient, interested in your customers, perky, fun and just generally nice. If you're natually friendly then tips should come in pretty easily.

OK. My sister is a waitress and she gets a lot of tips. Well...
-Keep wearing the updo!
-Wear a little make-up. It shouldn't make your face look powdery or anything. I know we may not have the same stores..so I'll try to explain. Well, get some toner. Yeah. It's more attractive as a waitress. Don't wear too much powder. As a waitress, the impression of thick powder doesn't look good. Make it look like skin look. . . strange. I personally don't like waitress that look like that. Reminds me of a geisha. So, for the face powder. . . use compressed powder that is 1 shade darker than your skin. Don't forget to put it on your neck so it doesn't look like you're wearing a mask! Your lips. . . I know it may seem old lady-ish to wear darker lipstick as in Red, but it's fine. Personally, the red impression makes me think "yummy" but as a waitress, you want a personal homie. . neutral look. Try browner darker lipstick. Try colorstay lipgloss..or a lip gloss that is water proof.

Your eyeshadow...personally, people with dark faces disgust me. But of course, you want to look very nice. . . not cruel or anything! LOL. So, you want to even things out. If you wear a darker lip color, do a lighter. . . . shinier eyeshadow. yes. And don't forget, the shiny eyeshadow goes above the eye-line and up to your eyebrows. This is the shimmery one.

If you have a lighter lip coloring, try a darker eyeshadow. . . perhaps blue. My opinion is Blue reminds me "Old lady!" So, if you're thinking blue, get the sexy young blue. The one that mixes purple and gold and shines. Oh. And if you're doing this, near the eyebrows, spread gold... gold eyeshadow..of course.

Good with that.

Okay...Skin, Eyes, mouth, eyelashes! Yes.

So, eyelashes. I think on a waitress I like very visible eyelashes. Even on a gothic girl. MM HMM! If you are so lazy and feel like that, do fake lashes..which I don't prefer. I say mascara! Dark black. I prefer covergirl. Make it really dark & AFTER you apply it, curl them.

Your hair! The up do.

And check on them "How are you?", "Everything alright?", "Need anything?"

And other opinions. Babies/disturbing. Yes. So, if you see someone's on a date, has a sleeping baby, cleaning up..busy etc. Shut ya mouth. Don't ask. Just make sure you walk by them often so if they need something they can ask..

I sat here for 5 minutes to type this..so...appreciate it, please.

Yah. My sister typed that.

An updo would be fine, just smile, stay friendly, but develop a bit of an attitude that you want the best for your customers, but they can't demand everything from you.

I can't help with the hair. But what worked for me as a waitress was to draw a happy face on the bill, and a message inviting them to come back.

Check your customer service. Make sure that each patron's order is correct and is served in a timely manner. Smile and address customers politely. Make sure water glasses are filled. Never ask if a customer wants change. Just bring them their change. Never let a customer languish at a table too long. Check on them periodically. Try to make their experience as pleasant as possible.

good service is the key not how you look. If you want tips by the way you look slid down a brass pole or what ever els they do. Smile and do what you would like in a waitress.

I was a waiter for 12 years.
Learn what your regulars like and remember it.
Never keep them waiting,if it is busy, work harder.
Be friendly and let them know you are interested in what they have to say.
Leave your problems in the back room.
Always say thank you.
Remember tips are given because you gave outstanding service.
