Get rid of all the clutter, it would be much easier to maintain that way. Store seasonal items in plastic tubs. Get little plastic containers to store all your small items in. Organize is the key.

Do a little every day. Start by getting all the clutter off the floor. Next you might clean the closet . Organize clothes by shirts, pants, sweaters, and such items in one area all together. Get rid of things that are too big or small and things you do not wear. Keep the shelves straight and the floor in irder. After doing this, you could clean and straighten the desk if you have one. Clean out your dresser and chest of drawers. After this wipe down the walls. If they need painted this would be a good time. Wash the windows and curtains. Flip the matress over. Wash all matress pads, blankets, bedspreads and the likes. Now comes, the floor area. Shampoo the rug if you have one. If not, scrub the floor and wax if necessary. If you do a little every day and keep it clean oncecompleted, it will not be as hard to keep clean.

Get yourself a bunch of empty boxes or laundry baskets and start sorting. Put all the items you can't bear to part with in one. Place all the items you might be able to get rid of in another. Trash in the third. Strip everything: the bed the curtains, etc. Remove the baskets and all the non-furniture items from the room. Then start the "cleaning". Dust, Clean windows, wipe off surfaces, and vaccum. Then start by bringin back only the items you have to have. Donate or sell the rest. Reorganize the room to fit your lifestyle (i.e. if you find that you have dirty clothes next to the door to the bathroom, try putting a hamper right next to the door, etc.)
Make sure to set aside a day to do this. Don't think you can accomplish it in an evening. If you have kids, send them to grandma's or a friend's house for the day. You want little or no distractions. Don't turn on the TV, but do turn on the stereo to an upbeat CD or radio station. Have a cappucino and get moving. GOOD LUCK! You'll feel so much better when its done!

Having the desire to clean your room is a great start!
What I do, when faced with a monstrous cleaning task, is to start small. Pick up some clothes from the heaps on your floor and hang them up in your closet ... you will be amazed at what a difference this can make. Once you see positive results, you may well be inspired to continue. I would also recommend to not try and tackle too much at one time ... this may well be your situation, where you throw up your hands in total despair and frustration.

I like to use the flylady's methods, she suggests setting a timer for 15 minutes and concentrating on one task for that amount of time. Keep cleaning in 15 minute increments until everything is clean. I've also found that writing down each task you want to get accomplished and then working through the list one thing at a time helps (if you're like me and get scattered while cleaning this is a great help.)

"Spring cleansing" became what they used to do at the same time as homes were closed up all wintry climate lengthy heated by technique of only timber burning stoves and the soot could coat the walls so on the first warmth days of the 12 months all fixtures and bedding could be taken out to air and all walls could be scrubbed sparkling. on account that maximum human beings don't have that issue anymore spring cleansing is a lot extra obtainable. I many times take out my area rugs and enable them air out and open up the residing house windows and enable each thing get some air. I bleach each thing weekly so that is about the volume of my sprong cleansing.

First of all, the first thing you do is organize your clothes closet. Get three large cardboard boxes and mark them TOSS, KEEP, CHARITY. Then take everything out of your closet and use the boxes for things you do not want anymore, things you want to keep, and give to charity. Then organize your clothes, shoes, handbags, sweaters etc. Once that is done, the next step is move all your furniture to one side of the room. Once you have done that, then you start cleaning, clean walls if dirty, wash woodwork, vacuum all dirt and dust. Then once clean put back all furniture on that side. Then move furniture on other side, and do the same thing. Then dust and wax furniture. Then wash your window. Remove curtains, bedspread, sheets, dust ruffle and wash everything. Vacuum your mattress, remove box spring, and vacuum under your bed. Once that is done, spray mattress with Fabreeze or Lysol to deoderize. Then organize all your dresser drawers. Sweaters in one drawer, underware in another drawer, socks, pantihose in another drawer, jewelry in jewelry box, scarves and gloves in another drawer, pj's in another drawer. Once that is done, get a few plastic boxes and organize your school papers that you want to keep. Clean up your desk. Buy a laundry basket and every night throw your dirty laundry in that laundry basket. Keep that in your closet till Saturday when you will do your own laundry. Now it is time to put clean sheets on your bed, hang your clean curtains, put dust ruffle on, bedspread, pillow sham, and make your bed. After this is done, vacuum your room completely. Now that you have your room organized, you should make some rules for yourself. Every night pick up your dirty clothes and put them in laundry basket, when you open a drawer to get something out of the drawer, you close the drawer. Always fold your clean clothes and put away immediately. If you wear something and it is not dirty, hang it up or fold it and put it away. Never throw it on the floor. Never ever leave your bed unmade. Before leaving for school, make your bed and pick up anything that is on the floor. If you follow these rules I guarantee you that you will feel better about yourself, you will feel organized, and you will be so proud of yourself. All good wishes to you.

Divide it into sections like closet one day, dresser another, etc. Or Pick up clothes on day, books and sporting equipment another. Sounds like you have too much stuff. While you sort put in piles Keep, Donate, Throw Out. Be ruthless. You won't miss it anyway. You can't even find it now!
