Um... Pantera, sadly, has been broken up since the 90's.
However, I think, and always will think, that the best bands of today are bands that are still around from the past.
Iron Maiden --- released new CD last year
Ozzy Osbourne --- touring Ozzfest and releasing CD soon
Megadeth --- touring Europe with Ozzy currently, releasing new CD soon

Today Pantera no longer exists so you cant say Pantera. Im not sure that Damage Plan is even still around, are they??
I dont listen to tons of metal, but Demu Borgier is up there.

heaven and hell- ronnie james dio replaced ozzy as the lead singer with the rest of the black sabbath they goin on tour with megadeth and machine ****** head.
lamb of god- they just got off their headlining tour with gojira, trivium, and machine head
slayer- they'll always be ****** around slayer all day everyday!!!lol
