suddenly announces his resignation? Bush has to protect himself. Part of that "protection" is to remain ignorant that ahe knew what Gonazles was doing.
Ah. Washington.
So predictable.

WASHINGTON, March 24 — An accumulating body of evidence is at odds with the statements of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales that he played little role in the deliberations over the dismissal of eight United States attorneys.

Gonzales Met With Advisers on Dismissals.
Mr. Gonzales has said he did not take part in any discussions of the dismissal effort, and left the planning and execution of the removals up to D. Kyle Sampson, his former chief of staff.

But e-mail messages and other documents released by the Justice Department in recent days suggest that Mr. Gonzales was told of the dismissal plan on at least two occasions, in 2005 when the plan was devised and again in late 2006 shortly before the firings were carried out.

Gonzales is just another stooge of Rove and Cheney, he has been able to keep the marionette out of trouble so far. Did you see where his former aid is planning on taking the 5th in front of the Congressional Subcommittee that is probing the firing of the 8 US Prosecuting Attorneys? I so not believe his taking the 5th will not help with Gonzales reputation; you do not take the 5th unless you are attempting to hide something.

Lets see if we have a pattern here, Brownie your doing a heck of a job. Resigned a few days later. I will stand by Rumsfeld, a few days later he was gone. Roberto Gonzales is a heck of an A. G., how many days do you think he has left. He will undoubtedly accept the resignation with great regret. Speedy's fate is sealed.

I guess you didn't care that Clinton was the first US President in history to dismiss all 93 US Attorneys. Oh, but he's a democrat, when they do it, that must be justified and no cause for media concern, this dismissal however, actually bumped the Anna Nicole story off the news. What a double standard!

I predict Gonzalez will resign under pressure from Karl Rove, et al, but the pressure won't come from Bush himself.

I would add that I do not think Gonzalez SHOULD resign. I think he should stick up for himself and say "I'm the Attorney General of the United States - I'm nobody's patsy!".
