okay, i am 21 years old and i will be graduating in may with my degree as a high school history teacher. anyway, i am planning on moving to nyc within the next 2 months. i have never lived by myself and i need to know what to expect - any tips to help things go smoothly?

as for financially, i do not know what to expect either. i am planning on leaving my car at home so i will save on my car payment and insurance. i have an idea on how much i spend on food and necessities. anything else? the rent includes electricty and water. what other expenses may i come across? thanks!

That is kind of a tough and expensive place to live on your own. Be careful. Do you have a teaching job already? You might consider a small town somewhere else so you can get a feel for taking care of yourself in a little less stressful environment. But if you already have your budget worked out. How are you going to be getting to work, have you figured in transportation? Do you have the wardrobe you need to teach? Try to have enough extra for emergencies. Does your apartment have gas that you will have to pay? How are you set for a phone? I can't really think of anything else, good luck though

Your Car Might Break Down.So Bring A Cell Phone!!!You Might Come Across Poor People Who Want A Ride.BE CAREFUL!!!Bring An Adress Book So While You Are Traveling By Car,Look Up The Nearest Realative In The Book.

First of all NY is a high crime rate city so DON'T TRUST ANYONE. Plus Hilary is the running the joint so expect higher taxes and tax on the air as well. lol i'm just playing. your going to experience the same things and bills as you would anywhere else. just save save save for those rainy days you never know when you might need a few hundred dollars.
