As I stand near the edge of the world
I look down to see all the people who stand and live
I try to call, but they don't reply
So I move along into the night
And I see the light behind me is growing dim
And yet I turn away, and head towards the edge
Ever so close, yet so long a journey
The knowledge I quest
lays there in the mist
Between the light and the dark
But I'm unable to grasp it with my fingers
As I run, I stumble
Not once, but many times
Then I see the people
whom loved, hated and pitied me
And I try to get up and turn back towards the dim light
But it is gone
And so I must walk on towards the edge
And when I reach it
The memory of friends will fill my head
And the baby that once played in the sand
is suddenly dead.

I am so glad that you decided to post another poem, I've been checking and was so glad to see this post come up..

I think you are talking about person entering into adulthood...

is this right... let me know, as I am interested to see what this poem is really about, if you don't mind that is.

Not bad, How about this one ?

Looking in the mirror
unsure of what I see
The lines on my face
Blur through my thoughts
What is it I have become?
Have I been true to myself?
Why am I always sad?
Only I know what's next
And, only I can change my reality
Tomorrow's only a dream
One I may never see
But,the image looking back
Tell's me I must become
more than what I see
Awake from within
Open up my soul
Breathe in a new reality
And bask in the light of promise
I will change who I am!
