im not asking because i want suggestions. i just want to know what it is that people like to see in scary movies that makes it scary for them. and if you can name some examples.

In my opinion i think people often mistake suspenseful movies with scary ones. its two different factors. sometimes they're both in a same movie. so people badly rate a movie that is not supposed to be scary. im realizing that people consider scary and good movies that only show bloody scenes and overly violent and brutal. and if you ask me that is just lack of cinematic talent. i dont enjoy those movies.

Something that just makes you feel complete dread as if you forget your watching a movie and that your actually in it. Dread is like a mix of fear, desperation and anxiety all at once. Unfortunately no movie has ever made me feel that way.

Any 70s horror movie seen when one is under 13. After that age, even the scariest movie is just another movie trying to be scary.

frightening action picture one million,2,3 & 4 are comedies...,parodies of numerous actually horror action pictures rolled into each, some extra effectively than others. considered one of them, i think of three, grew to become into genuinely dreadful and unfunny 's IMHO, yet that's what happens while a franchise gets stretched too skinny and previous the place it would desire to have long previous. yet another occasion of that concern is the Superman franchise: the 1st and 2nd have been won derful, then the 0.33 and fourth have been gradually terrible with the fourth being a entire waste of all and sundry's time. I see "Hangover" affected by an identical concern: Hangover 2 is in basic terms a miles less-good rehash of the 1st action picture and that they are already in production on 3 wherein considered one of them tries to flee an insane asylum....which at this value is what all of the folk linked with that franchise would be doing faster or later! that's what happens while greed takes over interior the action picture marketplace, very much overriding good style and good sense. what's the previous asserting: "fool me as quickly as, disgrace on you..." etc!!!

I like a lot of Japanese horror movies, because they really don't rely on violence and gore. They are made to be disturbing on a really basic level. I think that American horror films have become far too relient on violence and gore. Although including extremely violent scenes in films has some initial shock value, it wears off really quickly, especially if you watch a lot of horror films, which I do.

The scariest movie that I have ever seen is the Exorcist. The original one with Linda Blair.
