The stairs probably represent some challenge/obstacle in your life that you are experiencing or anticipating. The repetitive motion could symbolize that you feel you are running in circles (so to speak) and aren't getting anywhere but are wearing yourself down.

Or, the dream may symbolize that you are running away from something/one, but you keep running back because for some reason you don't want to leave.

Or the dream may just be "a dream", but I don't really believe that. Do you? ;-)

Dreams are the subconscious trying to solve or resolve dilemas. They don't rationalise between simplicity and reality.
For example, a man dreams of killing his wife as she's always ill. He doesn't really want to but to solve the "problem"of him worrying, the sub/c finds "an" answer, so he can stop worrying about her.

In other words ignore the dream and become conscious of what your real life issues are. Dreams are only your inagination looking for the simplest answer from A to B, withou actually understanding the real world.

Also be aware that most "problems" are in the imagination too, for example, anorexia. We spend so much time trying to solve these imaginary issues we forget to just live and be happy in the real world.

do you ever reach the top?? Dream significant with you trying to reach something, to find you turning away that why you run back down. Stairs are seen as the obstacles that you have to climb to get where/what you want... however as you dont say if you reach top or not, but you are running down means that you either have reached what/where you want or you dont want that now.

Dont listen to dream site or book because those dreams are someone elses dreams not yours. When you have a dream just keep asking yourself what your dream means. Once you see it and ask yourself those questions you will find out. Sometimes you just dream because everyone dreams and there is nothing more to it.

man i personally hate long answers so ima make it as short and simple as possible.

If this was a dream of mine, i'd think i'm unsure about something. maybe there are 2 contradicting things.. one is something i'd like to do and the other is something society would like me to do.

but dreams mean different things for different people so my interpretaion may mean nothing at all to you. however, one thing common about all dreams is, i believe dreams tell you about yourself, not about others, unless its something you already know (consciously or not) . they inform you about whats really going on in your life. what you really desire. what really makes you happy, scared, and all other emotions. if you wanna do something (maybe ask somebody out), dreams show you if you got enough balls to do it.

coming from a fair today, i also think this dream is like the worlds scariest looking roller coaster. you know youre gonna enjoy it but too scared to get on it so you end up getting off the ride before it starts.. and then you wanna get back on and the cycle continues.

In many teaching throughout the world it is taught that we all have the answers to our problems. Dreams are the inner workings of our mind giving us the answers. We may not understand the dream but the answer is there.

to find out what a dream means, we have to know things about you, what has been happening to you in the past month or so-
is something bothering u, or is it a stressor, that u are not dealing with?

maybe the stairs is a road to one of your goals and it means your getting closer but each time you take a step closer you take two steps back
