You need to know your skin tone in order to choose flattering makeup colors. Here's how to determine your skin tone.

Warm skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear green.
2. Gold jewelry is more flattering than silver jewelry.

Cool skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear blue.
2. Silver jewelry is more flattering.

Look at your wardrobe and hold up a few items in different colors against your face. Which ones appear more flattering to you in a mirror with natural sunlight? Which colors are you drawn to?

If you are not sure, ask one or two trusted friends or family members who's style you admire.

Sunscreen is really important and a tinted sunscreen will help conceal imperfections while protecting your skin from premature aging.

Avoid untinted sunscreens w/ light diffusing particles because they can give your skin a whitish cast.

Benzoyl peroxide tends to make tan skin look ashy so use it sparingly. Salicylic acid products encourage exfoliation w/o that side effect.

When choosing makeup, avoid yellow orange colors because they can oxidize and look harsh. Stick w/ subtle warm neutrals. (ex. Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey or BeneFit lipstick in Birthday Suit)

Facials or face masks can help make your complexion look great. Some home remedies:

1) 1/4 c. plain yogurt & 2 tsps. honey will help exfoliate and moisturize. You can also add a little ground oatmeal.

2) Milk of Magnesia or beaten egg white will help tighten your pores.

I use Bare Escentuals. They have a several powders that are designed for all skin types that just give a hint of glow (nothing too obnoxious!) I have olive tones to my skin and I use "Clear Radiance." I also use "Warmth" as a bronzer. I like all the BE products because they are light on my skin.

Try Clean and Clear face wash. Also, wear put on lotion before you go to bed. That way in the morning it will shine and glow! Also, scrub and exfoliate your skin every day. This will clean your pores and make your face look really healthy.

If you use foundation, mix a little bit of moisturizer with foundation and apply. Your skin will really glow.
