A coil pack is what sends current to your spark plug wires and subsequently causes each plug to fire. It takes the place of the old cap and rotor style ignition by having each coil fire to each wire and each cylinder individually.
You need to know what engine you have. You can identify this by looking at the 8th digit of your VIN number. If it is a "C", you have a 2.0, if it is an "X" you have a 2.4, if it is an "H" you have a 2.5 V6.
Ac Delco makes these coil packs. If you have a 2.0 or a 2.4, the part number is C521. If you have a 2.5 the part number is F560. You can verify these part numbers, see images of them, and find a local AC Delco distributor in your area by going to www.acdelco.com

Your car has what is called a "lost spark system". Without getting too involved, this simply means that there is one ignition coil for every two cylinders. The coils are all packaged together in one module called a "coil pack"...it has two coils for a four cylinder, or three coils for a six. If any of the individual coils goes bad, you need to replace the whole module.
You can buy a coil pack at any autoparts store, but you may have to ask for an "ignition coil". If you can't find one locally, you can order from http://www.rockauto.com

The coil pack on newer cars is controlled by the PCM and eliminates the need for a distributor.
It usually contains 2 or more coil modules integrated into a single unit.
If you cannot locate one at a QUALITY parts store (e.g. NAPA, Carquest etc.) then you will need to contact the parts department at the dealership.

from what i have alway's understood it is the electronic module that control's the spark to your spark plug's, if you don't have a coil per cylinder then follow a plug wire from the engine back to where it plugs in and that should be your coil pack, good luck.
