We've been trying to get pregnant since June 2006 and nothing. The doctor won't put me on fertility drugs until my husband gets tested. I'm fine. My husband says he doesn't have any problems and won't get tested. Can I, or should I, pressure my doctor or should I switch doctors?

Well if your husband truly wants kids he should get checked? Why would you under go an expensive treatment if the problem could be your husband?

As mentioned, unless you are over 35, you need to be trying for a year. Your doctor is completely right that your husband needs to be tested first. The fertility testing for men is completely non-invasive while it is considerable for the woman. Your doctor also won't put you on fertility drugs until you have at least been checked out for certain internal conditions as the fertility drugs can worsen some of them (cysts for example). In the meantime, you and hubby can improve your diet. Sometimes that is the cause for nonsuccess depending on your prior diet.

MOST doctors will not use drugs or refer you to a RE until you have been trying "actively" for 1 complete year.

You husband is being silly - he could be "fine" but why waste all the time! Maybe his swimmers are slow and he needs more Zinc - who knows. Unless he is a doctor, I would keep talking about it.

There is so much us gals have to do - a small test in a bathroom is not too much to ask :-)

Well your husband needs to get tested. I know it is too macho for some men to even think about, but if really wants a baby then he would do for you. It is much easier to find something wrong with him. In some places he can even do this at home and when he is done take his sample to the clinic. You don't need to find another doc just yet. It hasn't even been a year of trying and in most cases the doc won't even see you till its been a year. It took us 14 mos.

If your husband wants to have a baby then he needs to participate in and out of the bedroom. He needs to go and get tested.

Sounds to me you need to presure your husband before you pressure a doctor.

It is important that you feel that you can talk to your doctor. I would say that if you feel that your doctor isn't listening to you, get another opinion.

Good Luck!
