I am going into an interview for a scholarship tomorrow and they are pretty much just going to ask me why do I feel that I deserve the scholarship.
someone told me that I should just say
"I've overcome many obstacles to be where I am today. I am very determined and I do my best to succeed at everythig I do. My determination and hard work will be what gets me through college."

Anything else I should say? Any pointers? I heard the people were REALLY nice. So I'm not that worried. I just need to get my answer down to perfection.

I think that you should be a little more specific than that.
it is a very good answer by itself but i think that i could use a little more "meat."
Its just a very generic answer. the people interviewing will want to hear a more refreshing answer.
Like I believe i can succeed at anything I do because I have determination, strength, strong intergerity. etc. Follow up with examples of how you are determined, strong-willed, honest. etc. and make sure that you are very convincing and not too rehearsed. best to practice. ALOT in a mirror

During the interview, you want to come off as confident and bright but not cocky or arrogant. Make sure to keep full eye contact the whole time.

Also i cannot stress enough how important the way you look is. First impressions are everything. You want to look professional but not too depressing. Trust me, these things are actually very important to interviewers.

The following website is a good reading material for interview tips: http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:hBmNu4d76PMJ:www.ncs.usyd.edu.au/press/includes/pdfs/Scholarship%2520Interview%2520Tips1.pdf+scholarship+interview+tips&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us
I will also list it in the source.

Smile, Speak clearly,Keep eye contact, PREPARE and you will do just fine. Good Luck!

Sweet pea, just be honest. Why DO you think you deserve the scholarship? Are you a good student? Would you be an asset to the college? THey are giving you their money and they want to make sure their money is not going to waste.

Shave the other eyebrow off and pencil in replacements - don't use too heavy a line or it will look very strange. Dye your hair using a dark brown dye in a natural looking shade. Sack your friends, they're rubbish! Good luck in your interview!

They love when you tell them about community service projects that you have completed, and things that you have done for your church and family members. They also like to hear about obstacles you have overcome. It can be something as simple as passing a tough course. You must give details and examples.
Don't be too polished, or you won't appear sincere.

Say, "By the way, I don't take gifts lightly and I always find a way to pay back the kindness and generosity of people and then some." Good luck.

BTW you might like a book I wrote called "Get Out of Your Own Way"

Well, your answer naturally begs the question...what hardships have you overcome? So, be prepared to answer that as well.

Without knowing the type of scholarship it is; you wont get a more specific answer.

Try to say persistance instead of that second determination. These guys hate redundancy. Try adding in something of your own so they start to know your real personality.

That sounds like a great answer. Also tell them about how much this means to you, and tell them something interesting about yourself. Nothing too weird though.
