medically what would someone with 12 fingers or 8 fingers etc be called?
i keep thinking mutation, but that is wrong..You know something along those lines...

Anomaly or defect. Genetically, humans are predetermined to have 10 fingers and 10 toes. If there is more or less than these numbers, it's an anomaly (or defect) caused by a genetic mutation (or maybe there was a particular chemical or drug introduced into the blood stream during gestation).
I prefer the word anomaly because "defect," while technically accurate, has a very negative connotation when applied to humans.
