You need some sort of speaker... But damn dude, Line 6's get loud, even the really small ones. I use a Line 6 Spider 3 75... And it works for gigs and everything...

You can use it, but you're not going to hear anything. All you'll be doing is amplifying your signal...but it won't be going anywhere. You can plug into the amp and then run "direct out" to a PA (ya know, into a mixer and out through powered speaks). *If you do this though, make sure you do not run out from a "loudspeaker" jack or "external speaker" jack...whatever they may be called, these are for a speaker cabinet. You want "line out" or "emulated out" or "direct out" whatever they call it. I believe with some of those Line6's you can plug your headphones up to it...that might be a little scary though! OR, you could just buy a nice 2x12 or 4x12 cab and be set! Good Luck.

the ideal potential flow is while speaker impedance suits the amp's impedance. Any mismatch, and quite a number of different the potential is meditated decrease back, so performance drops. No different than what you have heard in CB communicate approximately SWR. one million:one million is right, yet no longer something is ideal. something under one million.5:one million is great. yet you have probable additionally heard how undesirable SWR ability much less transmit distance (much less performance or wasted potential). yet another concern with undesirable SWR is that the meditated potential has to flow someplace, so that's dissipated as warmth. warmth is the organic enemy of electronics, and the life of your amp's output degree might properly be shortened with the help of non-provide up operation at badly mismatched impedances. i'm no longer speaking approximately hours or days, yet many months. What you will word worse with mismatch isn't plenty undesirable potential flow or warmth, yet purely audio high quality. For an 8? amp impedance, a 4? speaker will sound tinny, whilst a 16? speaker will sound extremely muffled or bassy. For voice, it won't count, yet for music that's kinda nasty. yet you will possibly desire to run an 8? amp with audio gadget as low as 2½? or severe as 24?. in spite of the amp impedance, do no longer connect audio gadget rated under ¼ of that impedance. it extremely is virtually a short circuit and could overheat your amp and injury it. an identical for audio gadget with too-severe impedance, they shouldn't exceed 4X the amp impedance. it extremely is like no audio gadget or an open circuit, and the potential has no place to flow. So, back, warmth buildup.

you can...you just have to line out directly from the cab to the P.A. system...however you will need a cab if your not lining out to a pa or any other form of speaker in order to hear it.
