i have been thinking about selling some drinks or popcorn or snacks somewhere lately. since my dad owns a auto repair shop in the bay area (S.F), we are thinking to sell some like in front of the entrance of the shop. will i need a licence?

Unfortunately, the answer isn't a simple yes or no, but instead is "it depends." Most municipalities (cities and towns) in the SF bay area do have laws about selling things within the city or town limits that require obtaining either a business license or a permit from the police department. I would suggest calling the city/town business license office where you are thinking of selling. Keep in mind that selling food and beverages is also governed by many state health codes.

This isn't impossible, but do ask the questions of the right people.

You should check with your local business laws. If you are thinking of starting your own business, a license may be useful for business credit or even personal credit down the line. It is easy and fairly inexpensive to get.

no u wont as long as its like candy bars pop in bottles and cans and potato chips but u might want to check with your health dept as laws on food very from state 2 state
