It is for legal reasons, to say that they actually are trying to do something to protect young kids. If anyone sues them for exposing children to creeps they can say... no we have the button that ensures people are of age, since the person lied, the website is not liable.

You should not be on it if you are under 14 anyways. People under 14 generally do not have the life experience to realize when somebody is using you. I know I know, the younger population will not agree with me, but it is true.

There were some incidents involving pedophiles tracking people down through their MySpace pages, so MySpace felt it necessary to create some rules about age.

You have to be 14 to have a myspace because there are other people on myspace and they can target you from your computer and rape you or something or they just want to meet you but 9 times out of 10 they want to do something bad to you if you agree with me email me at www.yahoo.com godsvessel6302@sbcglobal.net

because sometimes people post inappropriate things that kids under 14 shouldn't see or read. if you go on and change your age, you're doing so at your own risk and you're risking your own innocence being lost.
