first of all, find yourself a female gynecologist. while a man can have all the medical training in the world, he has never had a period, and has clearly belittled your symptoms. It does sound like you do have a very bad case of PMS. Midol and other over the counter treatments can help with cramps, and hormone related birth control (like the pill or patch) can help with mood swings. hopefully your new doctor will be able to prescribe something to help relive your symptoms

First of all, here is a site that provides helpful treatment for pms.

Secondly, about your cramps. Your uterus is expelling the blood from your body so you will feel cramps. Here is another article about painful periods. It is normal to feel pain, but sometimes it could be caused by something else.

If you really feel that something is wrong then I suggest going back to him and getting him to answer your question. Also, talk to your mom about it. I'm sure that she could help.

BTW, I get cramps that make me stay in bed too. I swear the best remedy for this is a heat pad, drink chamomile tea and take pain relievers. I usually just take Tylenol.

I was ignored for my problem for the first three years of my period. Then my mom went in and complained that I couldn't even go to school with my cramps and blood flow. My doctor put me on birth control, which greatly helped. Whatever you do, don't let your doctor tell you it's normal to be in bed for 2 days!! Your suppose to be able to live your life with your period. Best of Luck
