Based on the dialogue in the scene or monologue, figure out your objective or what they want by what they say,who they are and their relationship to the other person they're speaking to. If you don't know what that is, you'll have to decide what the scene is about and if you need to make up the circumstances. Stick to one objective. The one thing you're going for, what you want from the other person. To "act it naturally," you'll have to decide what actions you will take in order to what you want from the other person. Those are the tactics. If you know what your objective is and what your tactics are and if you are honestly listening to the other person, you wont be thinking about how you're 'acting." Your focus should be on the other person. Not yourself.

When you get into character, act as if it were you in that situation. In the moment.
