My best guess is that they will win 90-95 games in the weaker NL. Once they reach the playoffs though, they will be out of luck as they don't have the pitching to win short series. The only way the Mets make the WS is if Pedro comes back from his injury and imeadiatly pitches like it is 1999 and they score 6 runs a game. Any team depending on "El Duque" to be a solid #2 is in for a long year and a short post-season.

I'd predict them to win around 90 games. Certainly their pitching staff is a question mark. It'll depend on some of the young guys, like John Maine, and also on how/when Pedro Martinez returns.
Bullpen will be no problem at all, and obviously their lineup is even better, with Alou. While he'll probably only get around 400-450 AB's, because of age & being injury-prone, he'll still be good for .295+ average and 20 or more homers.
I'd say the Mets will win their division, but again be cut down in the playoffs, with pitching being their eventual downfall...

Dog fight to the end w/ the Phillies. If the mets don't trade for a good SP during the season, they will lose out to the Phillies. They might lose out to the Dodgers for the wild card. Their infield is very good except 2nd base and i dont like Green and Alou on the corner fields. Alou will do better than Green, but it could be a disappointed season

Until the Phillies actually prove they're contenders, not pretenders, the Mets still have to be the favorites in the East this year. I see the race being closer this year than last, but it all may come down to bullpens and the Mets had the best in the NL last year. If it holds up again, Mets win.

That pitching staff will have to have 2 to 3 guys step up big time, otherwise the Mets won't have the season that most are hoping they will have.
Last year they owed their success to their great batting lineup and those guys will have to at least duplicate last years numbers to keep the Mets a float and in the race.
You know Alou and his 41 year old body will not last the season.

Second place in the East, behind the Phillies.
Competing for the Wild Card with the Padres.
Best-case scenario - Beaten in the NLCS by the winner of Phillies-Dodgers. Of course, to get this far, the Mets would have to beat the Cardinals in the NLDS.
Worst-case scenario - Padres take the Wild Card away from them.

The Mets should win about 95 games or so again and advance to the world series. I dont see any other teams in NL being able to handle the Mets, regardless of the Mets starting pitching.

I certainly think they could very well win more than 83 games.
NY & Philly will be fighting for the division as the braves run in that division is now offically over.

Even a major sports columnist said that the Mets would be in 3rd place. But I think it will be a close call becuz of their pitching staff.
