Has anyone considered the possibility that national media and governments simply create alot of the stress's that lead to war and prejuduce in the world today?

For example, Iran

ten years ago did anyone in america have a problem with them?

If not for all negative attention would anybody hate them now?

Just from looking through some of the answers that i see people giving, saying things like turn iran into a sheet of glass or wipe out the islam or the muslims...

I can't help but feel like all of it is unwarranted hatred.

If you watch the news you'll hear about how horrible things are in Iran, but if you talk to any educated Iranian they'll give you a completely different story of what life is really like there, what the common people really think.

So, how much of the tensions between nations can be justified as something worthwhile, and how much is just aimed at some small group of people that the media blows up to represent entire countries?

There can be no unity without hatred? well, yeah i suppose that's true if your trying to unite people AGAINST something... but why do we need to be against other people to be united?

Look at some other countries like canada, who is canada united against?

does that mean canada isn't united?

There can be no religion without hatred. There can be no patriotism without hatred. There can be no unity without hatred. If you are united in something, that automatically means that you are part of a group of people that is against something. The United States was against British rule. Otherwise, why would you make the distinction that you are united if no one is on an opposing side?

The media picks and chooses what they want the public to hear. So yes, we read negative things, then we believe negative things, without seeing the other side. The government is REALLY guilty of that. Which is why I don't believe anything they say....or at least take everything with a grain of salt. On the other hand, 9/11 changed many people's feelings about Muslims, and the media can't be blamed for that, except for disclosing the nationality of the bombers.

The US has had problems with Iran for years. Since I was in grade four, matter of fact and my son is about ready to graduate college! I wasn't in the US at that point, but I did hear about it all.

Oh, and to answer your question - yes. All governments do this with the help of the popular media. It is commonly called 'propaganda'.

I agree whole-heartedly!!! I doubt we would even care about Iran if not for Bush labeling them as part of the "Axis of Evil" and the media pushing it.

YES YES YES

the media almost controlls what and how people think and view anything or event they want them to!! Worst of all, the people who see this stuff are trapped in their controll!
