There have been studies, but the ones that I've read were all unproven hypotheses. I'd like to educate myself more. More and more frequently I'm hearing people state this as fact.
Please refer me to an authorative website or journal of medicine which supports this argument.

castle h, you've evaded the question.
I didn't ask you to prove anything to me. People are telling me that they KNOW something based on evidence. I'm asking those people to provide that evidence.

My dear, nobody on this site needs to prove anything to you. No-one. If you cannot take the word from people who know that they were born gay, then that is something inside yourself you need to look at.
And I do not say this out of any sort of anger. It's a simple statement of fact.
Addendum:
Their WORD is the evidence. Gay people know themselves and understand themselves in a way which you never can.
I evaded nothing. You will not hear what you wish not to hear. You will not see that which you do not want to see.

There is no firm evidence of sexual orientation being encoded. It is suspected. As many things about the human body have been suspected and later proved. This means straight and gay orientation. Certainly straight is much more common but face it, all gay people ever on the planet came from sperm meeting an egg, and until recently only straight sex could do that. I know you are a religous person but please bear in mind that the guidlines for most religons never imagined the discoveries that today we take for granted. I think the basic premise of religons were to teach people things we take for granted today. Things such as murder is wrong, stealing is wrong, hate is wrong, all that stuff. The thing that bound people together was the constant thought of always having something looking, seeing what you are doing and judging you for it in the life after this one. None of those things can be proved, they are taken for granted because that is the way it was done for generations upon generations. Eventually I think we will get to the point where the cause of homosexuality will be determined to be something naturally occuring, predetermined, and not worthy of further scrutiny.

We have larger corpus collecti.the nerves between the left and right, male and female, halves of the brain. This makes us more open to both aggressive and submissive sex which we find in a total relationship. We do not, as most straights think, play male female roles. We have a smaller brain-stem, the animal part of the brain. This makes us less aggressive. Recent cat scans have shown that frequently when there are male and female fetus' in the same womb they merge into one before they are born. This can be another clue. P.S. This applies to those of us who have bodies of males. There appears to be no research being done on lesbians.

An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men.
Another study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay.
A Canadian university study published in June of 2006 stated that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.
These are just 3 of many different studies that have shown that homosexuality is biological.

As far as I know, though the studies strongly suggest that there is a biological or genetic link, there has been no conclusive information that without a doubt proves anything.
I think if there were, we would definitely hear a lot about it. As it is, signs point to a biological basis, but nothing conclusive. Hope that helps.

1) twin studies: have shown that in every case of twins studies, both were either straight, or gay. While the gay 'gene' has not been found, this strongly suggests that it is caused by genetics.
2) i'm not sure of the technicalities, but they have found particular areas in the brain to be similar in straight females and homosexual males, yet different in homosexual females and straight males.
3) It's undeniable that homosexuality is not a choice. If you argue that, then you may as well argue that you chose to be straight, chose your eye colour, and chose your gender. Therefore weather its genetic or not, theres no justification for discrimination.

I don't recall the exact article/study anymore (it's been five or six years at least), but a study was done on the brains of men, both heterosexual and homosexual, and there's some gland in the brain that is small in women and large in men. In an overwhelming majority of the homosexual men's brains, the gland was of the small variety seen in women's brains.
Do a couple of search engines, you should find things.

there is no and never will be a studie that definitively shows that homosexuality is genetic, or that homosexuals are " born that way" This is because theories to that effect are just theories and can not be proven. There is no Gay Gene, there never was, homosexuality is a psychological maladaption and people aren't " born with " those, they occur as a result of experiences , not genetics.please note that Ray T does not provide websites or sources for the science fiction he his spewing,.
