The best way to do this is to blot up as much as you can, Then take some warm water and Vinegar(white) that would be 1/2 cup of vinegar to 2 cups of water, apply with a sponge and use paper towel to blot and keep blotting, You might have to go it again, but let it dry first.

One of the best things I have used is plain ol' white vinegar--must be WHITE vinegar. You can dilute it to half strength with water or use it straight--either way before attacking the stain you should test the vinegar on an out of the way corner of carpet to be sure the vinegar doesn't adversely affect the carpet. You can apply and immediately wipe up, or you may have to leave on for a few minutes and/or repeat if the stain is very strong or has set for a long time. You can also use vinegar in place of cleaning solution in carpet cleaners---it doesn't leave a residue that attracts new dirt.
I had a kennel and rental property for many years and vinegar almost always worked well.

Vinegar and warm water should take up the odor and the stain. Just rub it in, then dry with a towel. Just saw this on "How Clean is Your House" on the BBC! She got up a stain that had been there over a year with vinegar and warm water!!

Oreck makes a product called Pet Odor & Stain Remover. It's in a spray bottle and works well to neutralize odor. I have three cats who occaisionally miss the liter box so I have had to use it a few times.

There are a lot of products made to remove these stains using enzimes. Try to check the pet stores near your home to find one.

Pet stain deodorizers notwithstanding, I find that they never come out. But good luck.
