Please note that grizzly bears and gorillas have reputations for ferocity, but these are probably exaggerated. This is especially true for gorillas, which are far more peaceful than the ‘King Kong' image suggests. In fact, chimpanzees are far more dangerous and will kill each other, as well as hunting in groups and tearing monkeys and antelopes apart.
Gorillas live in Africa, while grizzly bears live in North America, so there is no likelihood of them coming into contact with one another in the wild, unless one of them were introduced into the habitat of the other.
They also live in different habitats. Most gorillas inhabit lowland tropical rainforest, but some live in bamboo forest and montane rainforest. The grizzly bear prefers open habitats, such as tundra, alpine meadows and coastlines. This means that a gorilla would not adapt well to the bear's habitat and the bear would not adapt well to the gorilla's habitat.
I think that if they ever came into contact, they would avoid one another. Grizzly bears rarely attack people and prefer to avoid confrontation. A male gorilla will go through various threat displays and will avoid fighting if he can. If anything, I think the gorilla would back down if the bear did not move away and I can't really imagine a bear being put off by a gorilla chest-beating or hooting. A gorilla will usually only attack if an aggressor runs away. It will back down if the aggressor stays where it is. I can't really see the grizzly turning tail.
I think a fight would be very unlikely, but if they were to fight, I believe that the bear holds most of the trump cards. If the gorilla and grizzly are the same size, it would involve a full-grown male gorilla fighting a rather small grizzly bear. This will benefit the gorilla more than if there were two full-grown animals fighting, as the bear would be heavier.
The gorilla is mainly vegetarian and rarely feeds on animal matter, whereas a grizzly can kill a moose with one swipe of its paw. The bear has the advantage here.
The gorilla's ferocity is a bluff to deter potential adversaries. The bear is being genuinely ferocious and has the advantage here, as it is less likely to back down.
Both have powerful canine teeth and use these mainly in threat displays. The bear is more likely to use the canines to bite and kill prey, while gorillas are practically herbivorous. The bear has the advantage here.
Both have powerful upper limbs, but the bear has long claws, whereas the gorilla has nails. Once again, the bear has the advantage to the bear.
The gorilla is more intelligent than the bear, but the gorilla has more facial expressions. Bear keepers say that it is very difficult to read a bear's mind, because of the lack of facial expression. I don't think the gorilla would be able to either, so I don't think the gorilla's intelligence would be much of an advantage here.
Perhaps the only advantage to a gorilla and bear in a one-on-one situation is habitat. The bear would have the advantage in a clearing, but the gorilla would have the advantage if it ran into a rainforest or montane forest and the bear followed. I can't really imagine a bear chasing a gorilla into a forest or other gorillas fighting the bear – I presume you want a one-on-one fight. Chimpanzees can band together to kill leopards, but I haven't heard cases of gorillas doing so.
But, as I stated earlier, I don't think a fight would be likely, especially as one of the animals would be rather disorientated in a strange habitat. It is also unusual for individuals of different species to fight one another. The nearest is when a predator is attacking a prey animal. As bears do not prey on gorillas, this is not a natural phenomenon.
I hope the above scenario does not occur. I don't like the idea of people gaining enjoyment by watching animals fight one another. I hope that your argument is more of a speculative nature, rather than a desire to see animals fighting to the death. Gorillas are becoming increasingly threatened by deforestation and hunting for bush meat and trophies, while various types of grizzly bear are also threatened. The Mexican grizzly bear is extinct, while other varieties have been classified as threatened under the US Endangered Species Act. Having grizzly bears and gorillas fighting one another is not a good idea.
THE GRIZZLY BEAR WILL PROBABLY WIN MOST OF THE TIMES. Yeah, the bear would win; they have been known to kill bulls with one hit of its paw!

The truth is that none of you really know it, you've never seen them fight, and they are both great at fighting. Both the gorilla and the bears are very strong, but the gorilla is stronger it has the strength of 23 men combined, not 70 but 23, don't exaggerate it. Gorillas are also more intelligent, and they share a lot of our own DNA, but so do bananas, that has nothing to do with this. Bears are more aggressive, and the gorilla is very social, unlike the Grizzly bear. The gorillas do k9 teeth but the Grizzly's are longer. The bear's aggressive, and that makes it deadly. Nobody will ever know unless you make them fight!! Which I do not think it's gonna happen really, so, nobody really knows. I love bears and Gorillas, and they're both awesome, so I do not know which one would win.

I know that this blog is old, but I want to add in some extras ideas. We can not compare weight and size with muscle mass and power. A good example is the wolverine, which has been witness by man and science on rare occasion have kill grizzly and polar bears (yes both). Again, rare occasion. A male grizzly hits with 500-600lbs of force, it can crack a skull of a bison or buffalo. Most bears (proven) can only lift .8 of their body weight. The Russia Bear can kill a Siberian Tiger, the biggest tiger and cat in the world. On the gorilla side, I has to hands and feet with thumbs(two extra hands). And heres a something that some people never think about or know. A gorilla can easily lift over 1500 lbs, which has been proven, but, Yet still, their has been no true test confirming its full strength beyond that point. (According to the Animal Planet Most extreme, They can lift over 4000LBS) most animal and primate experts agree with that. Muscle mass on a gorilla is greater than most animal on the planet. they have kill leopard with one hand. Im not on the gorilla side or grizzly, I just stating some facts. While I agree that animal should not be put against each other, but this is a fight that we can't judge. I added a link to a source of some of the most strongest animals in the world.

Anaconda's are pretty weak and no they don't "kill off" things when they're annoyed, also all of those animals would be too big for even the biggest anaconda and could easily fend one off using teeth, claws antlers or just their sheer size. Any one of the other animals listed could easily step or bite the anacondas head or neck until it's skull or trachea was crushed. The anaconda would be too slow to strike on land especially if it had no hiding place for an ambush. Grizzly beats gorilla because grizzlies are way bigger at about 990 lbs while even the heaviest gorillas only weigh 590 lbs. Grizzly bears have sharp teeth and claws while gorillas have only finger nails and not a very strong bite. Tigers would obviously win against a lion because Siberian Tigers are bigger than even male lions. They are also just as experienced in fighting as a lion because they fight over territory with other tigers. The male lions mane would not be too much protection because during fights (not while hunting) tigers don't even go for the neck. Either tiger or bear could kill a moose. A tiger would tie against a grizzly because Ussuri brown bears (a subspecies of grizzly bears) are occasionally preyed on by Siberian tigers, and are estimated to make up 1.0-1.5% of their diet. They are typically attacked by tigers more often than the smaller black bears, due to their habit of living in more open areas and their inability to climb trees. When hunting bears, tigers will position themselves from the leeward side of a rock or fallen tree, waiting for the bear to pass by. When the bear passes, the tiger will spring from an overhead position and grab the bear from under the chin with one forepaw and the throat with the other. The immobilised bear is then killed with a bite to the spinal column. After killing a bear, the tiger will concentrate its feeding on the bear's fat deposits, such as the back, legs and groin. Tiger attacks on bears tend to occur when ungulate populations decrease. While tigers can successfully hunt bears, there are also records of brown bears killing tigers but in in a one one one fight it it would be a tie between the two animals.Yeah so it's a draw for the grizzly and the tiger.

to the guy that compared a grizzly's bones to steel... bone is around 5 times stronger than steel and a grizzly's bones are much thicker and heavier than a man's leading me to believe a gorilla could not in fact break them. still i would wager on the gorilla. i imagine them to be stronger faster and much more intelligent. i think it would be near impossible to get them to fight but if for some reason, protecting it's young maybe, a bear did attack and the gorilla didn't retreat, i lean towards the gorilla.

Grizzly... Even if the gorilla would get an hold of the bear the bear could easily get loose, they both rival in strength area but the bear has huge claws at its advantage and overall more effective in combat.

okay look, a gorilla can bench over 4,000 lbs and has K9 teeth and could also rip the **** out of the bear, now onto the grizzly. The grizzly bear has large teeth and large claws in mind that claws dont really matter when a 400 pound gorilla is swing on you if the bears claws were so deadly then why if you play dead how come you'll more the likely live the bear attack? so use your brain a gorilla is far more smarter and would have a higher adventage twards the bear due to higher intelagents, the bears claws and teeth dont matter when the gorilla could smash you with one clean FALCON PUNCH!!!
