The shape of an object will have an affect on the wind resistance and drag. With more surface area the wind would not flow as easy so more air would need to be pushed aside for the object ot accelerate or just to pick up speed while falling.

If it's in outter space (in a vacuum) the shape has no affect. It all has to do with air resistance. The more air resistance the object has, the more energy it will take to accelerate an object and maintain its speed. This is where areodynamics comes into play. Typically, the smoother and more pointed an object is, the less air resistances it will have. This is why an air plane has the shape it does.

A streamlined oject can reduce the air resistance. Thats why most of the vehicles today are streamlined compared to the early 1900s.

Air resistance would be a good answer. Why Ferraris look different than VW Buses. And, in air resistance, "sleek" is part of it, but in the equations the "frontal area" is the most important term. Why Ferraris are so flat.

effects coefficient of drag

see here

and F=ma

increased coefficient of drag means more force is required to achieve the same acceleration and it means that resistance forces are higher at a given velocity and it also means a lower terminal velocity.

who are the geniuses that gave me a thumbs down? this is the correct answer. shape and surface roughness change the coefficient of drag of an object which effects the velocity and acceleration by the equations I have given you.
