that question has been asked SO much lately, and normally I'd just give you my best answer - wetseal - but since you'd like a casual dress with thick straps for under $50, I'll try to find some nice picks for you :)
ps. I had to extend the budget by five dollars, but each outfit costs less than $55 total (dress, shoes, accessories, etc. - a girl can't JUST get a dress, can she? :P)

I am going to an 8th grade ceremony too. I am in the 8th grade. I would suggest this store Kohls they have really cute dresses and they are not fancy. I am getting a red one from there. They are about 30 dollars i think. So go there and have fun shopping for it. Also these dresses can be wore for special night outs too. They are not just for special ceremonies. SO maybe when you go out to dinner or somthing.

Don't wear any cooler colors (blue, purple, green). Stick with cream, caramel, or a nice brown. You might want to check out Papaya, Charlotte Russe, or Express. Good luck!

Wear really cute flats not heels because that would be to dressy. you might want to try a store like XXI they would have what you are looking for
