First of all, that model number that your referred to (FPD1530) is the model number of your monitor -- not of your computer. Look on the big metal box that the flat glowing thing is connected to for a number there and we might be able to help you out more effectively.

"Only" having 7.14 GBs is not causing your slow (that is the problem right) browsing. 7.14GBs is many times over the amount needed to allow a smooth web browsing experience.

Your problem is probably lack of processor speed and RAM -- or infestation with spyware.

To answer your question about disk space though, you can buy a new hard drive and have someone install it for you, since you obviously aren't terribly computer savvy.

Up until about 5 years ago, many hard drives were as small as 12 gigabytes. With the operating system installed, that doesn't leave a lot of spare space for other things.

To expand the capacity, you can add another hard drive. The easiest thing is to add a USB external hard drive, which is easy to set up and does not require you to open the computer up. Just make sure that the computer has a USB port first.

If you feel like the internet is too slow, though, it is not related to Hard Drive size. This may be due to a lack of enough RAM (Random Access Memory), which stores what you are doing at the current time. This can be upgraded by simply opening the case and snapping the card into a socket, but you need to have the right kind of RAM. Consult your user's manual or look online to find out the kind you need. Using the wrong kind will not work and could even ruin the computer.

Your slow internet could also be due to your type of internet connection. You may be using Dial-Up or a slow DSL connection. Before upgrading your whole computer, check to see if this is the problem.

The Gateway FPD 1530 is actually a monitor, not the PC. Try looking on the back of the PC box for identification.
If it is more than about 5-6 years old it is likely to have a BIOS limitation with regard to hard disk size of 8Gb. However, generally you can fit a bigger hard drive but it will probably need to run disk management software to enable it to 'see' the larger size, and this has usually to be installed before any other software or data is installed on it i.e. it has to be a new installation.

Sounds like you are using an old harddrive from the days of windows 95 fame when the 20 gig size was concidered a large hard disk drive to be using. These days you almost cannot find them that small unless you shop at a discount goodwill industries store, or a yard sale. Or the older model parts and everthing support store.
