is there a special polish or will normal black shoe polish do the job?

nope you can't get a polish that why i stopped buying them ,oh if they just dirty just rub with a clean cloth or baby wipes are good .

There are only two simple steps to care for patent leather: cleaning and shining.

Cleaning is easily done with a mild soap and a wet cloth or ideally using AQUILA (Urad's gentle leather cleaner).

Some advantages of using AQUILA are to prevent the side effects of chlorine and minerals contained in water and to dissolve any dirt or grease accumulations. This should be done after each use; otherwise this dirt starts attacking the varnish, eventually reducing its shiny finish. At the very least dust should be removed with a dry, but very soft cloth (chamois or shoe shine cloth).

Cleaning the leather as above will go a long way in keeping your patent leather shiny. But applying VERNICE will go the extra mile! This will give it the “red carpet” glow!

VERNICE (pronounced VERNI-TCHEI) can be applied with a soft cloth. Spray and spread the VERNICE evenly and leave to dry. It dries in only a few seconds and there's no need for buffing.

VERNICE is liquid silicon that protects and shines. Another benefit, especially for dance shoes, it lubricates leather and helps prevent scuffs marks and scratches. It will not stay greasy so it can also be used on purses, belts etc..

Do not use grease or Vaseline!!

Vaseline is marvelous for patent shoes..It is so greasy it keeps the shoes soft and crack free....smear some on and leave overnight then rub off with a soft cloth...You can buy Vaseline in England but if you are from the States or somewhere else I wouldn't know if you can purchase it elsewhere...

Mr. Sheen or any other general purpose spray polish will do the trick and use a soft duster or old T-shirt to polish them with and buff them up to the high shine you require.

patent shoes dont have polishes, they cannot be polished over. Your best bet is a gloss nail varnish, this is what I use.

You can wear any type of shoe! Heels, flats, boots, booties. Just make sure they aren't black because that would clash. Good Luck!

you dont the wax will dull the shine, a wipe with a damp cloth or a duster and a squirt of pledge will do fine if they are really mucky.
