I'm not sure if this is worth answering seriously, but I'll give William the benefit of the doubt and answer as if it were a real, honest, question. In so far as any gay people have a 'chip on their shoulder' it is because they never know who is going to be nasty, beat them up, tell them they're sick, disown them (family or friends who learn about their sexuality); when there is going to be another wave of hateful homophobic junk in the media, when they're going to hear kids referring to something they think is stupid or wet as 'gay' etc etc etc. Most gay men and lesbians have suffered several instances of serious unpleasantness on account of their sexuality. It's really hard when a parent or friend stops feeling positive about you just because you come out as gay. It's very lonely to be bullied for being gay at school. Are you getting the picture yet? Or do you think it's not a serious matter to be hated for who you are?

I wouldn't say do - like most other gay people I would really rather be left to get on with it. And I would, too, if it weren't for homophobic straight people coming along, insulting us and forcing us to jump to the defensive about our lifestyle 'choices'.
You only have to look at this room to see why some gay people appear to have chips - the number of homophobic 'straight' people turning up and writing a load of vitriolic, offensive, ignorant sh*te for no reason other than to bash gays. And for the life of me I can't understand why.
So isn't the question more like, 'if you're NOT gay, can't you LET us get on with it?'

Is it because you are a miserable person, cause about 90% of the people I work with are, and most of them have a pretty nice temperment. Maybe it's you.
