I went to San Diego sea world and did the dolphin interaction thing, it Was a little expensive, but it was a fun experience.
It starts with you getting your wet suits and stuff, then after you change you go to like a 20-25 minute 'class' to learn about dolphins and they also tell you what to do and what not to do once you get into the pool.
then you go into the pool and I'm not sure about ALL the sea worlds, but they had us break up into smaller groups and then each group got with a trainer and dolphin.
Then you get to give the dolphins commands, like flip and stuff, you feed them, and a few other things. But overall it was a really nice experience. If you do go, have fun ^_^.

If you really find this friend special in your life then YES it's worth it. Dolphins have a mystical magic about them, it's soothing and supposed to be healing energies. There is a beach that is down a small cliff in Kalapana on the Big Island and many people have hiked down this cliff to swim in the cove as there is a certain time of the day the dolphins come in. Just swiming in the same water as they you can feel this energies, so I can imagine being able to swim and handle one close up would be even better.

I guess it just depends on you and if you are that into animals. If you are, go for it! Being able to experience something like that must be exciting, I've never had the urge to do it but I wouldn't rule it out if the chance came up and if it did, I'm sure I would enjoy it. It really all depends on you.
