It all depends on what type of place you're looking to live in. If you're looking for something like Boston, then you're SOL. If you're looking for something like Lexington/Burlington, etc, then many of the suburbs will suit you well.

The 75/635 area is a bit like Cambridge/Allston in that it's outside the main city, but pretty close. Plenty of stores, etc around.

If you can add more info, I'd be glad to help!

For now, a great source you can use are the TX apartment locators. They have a database of just about every apartment complex in the metroplex and can help screen out apartments to fit your needs to help save you a lot of legwork once you get out here.

Here's their website.

Hope that helps!

Hey...I'm not real sure if that $900 is going to happen but you could luck out. Especially b/c of the pets. I know Dallas area pretty well and the location you plan to move to is generally a pretty nice one. You might try the Spanish Steps Apts. I had a friend that lived there and the apts. are pretty nice and they do accept pets. Not sure what the rent was...maybe around $900. Hope this helps! You're going to love Dallas! There is soooo much to do and sooooo much SHOPPING!

Addison is a pretty nice place as are Plano, Allen, McKinney, Frisco and North Dallas. I think you'll find the cost of living in Dallas is cheaper than Mass.

Don't get an apartment on Elm.

Like others have said, McKinney is a great place to live. El Dorado has great apartments, with a great security system. 95% of the Mckinney police force live in that area, so at least you know you're safe.

Pepper place on Renner rd in Richardson tx. Its about one mile west of 75. Its a quiet neighborhood, but not too far from the major highway. My mom lived there when she worked at Nortel. Its at the corner of Renner and Custerd. Its close to George Bush Highway. good luck

Look for something in Richardson or McKinney. McKinney is more of a drive, but it's newer and you'll get more bang for your buck. Plano is OK too, more of a social scene.
