I was thinking about opening a coffee shop because what you need to start up is pretty simple and inexpensive. I was just curious as to what other endeavors I should consider in my entrepreneurship.

Network Marketing...

You should really read a book called Cashflow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki before making any final decisions!

A coffee shop is not going to be low overhead. Are you looking for a brick and mortar business to start? Online businesses are amazing as far as low overhead goes.

Another great book to read before starting a business is The Art of the Start by Guy Kawasaki.

For low overhead and maximum profits, one of the best businesses is vending. Selling snack food, ice cream and hot dogs is amazingly lucrative.

Location is the most important factor to consider. Having a space in a park, at an outdoor market or outside a stadium is considered the best.

It is important to have the cart or vehicle restocked throughout the day and to have a means of depositing cash in the bank.

Allow me to suggest that an online legitimate business with a QUALITY product exceeds your expectations, particulary
information marketing.
Because the entry fee is very low.
The entire world is your market.
Almost everything is on auto-pilot.
Your site makes money even when you are asleep or on the beach.
No employees to bother about.
Overhead is almost zero.
However, YOU have to promote and market that business
and have to generate quality traffic to your site.
