It starts with a high preseason ranking, highly touted players, at least one loss against a lesser nonconference team, and huge blowouts of even lesser nonconference teams at home, but the opinion of Kansas is still high despite said losses.

They are dominant in their conference despite a few hiccups along the way and have a successful conference tournament which leads to a high seed in the tournament and starts up rumblings of the Jayhawks going all the way.

The domination of or humiliation at the hands of a lower conference champion is followed by better teams exposing the chinks in the armor of the Jayhawks and chip away until there's nothing left and Kansas loses in a way that makes everybody think, "Why did we think this was Kansas' year again?"

Did I just summarize any Kansas Jayhawks basketball season since 1988?

Yet another year of high expectations going down the drain to a team they should have beaten. If KU would have played UCLA sometime between the A&M loss and the NCAA Tournament, the 'Hawks would've won by 10 or 15. More mistakes by young players have ended their tournament run once again. I'm going to say this though: If Rush stays for next year, (Wright has confirmed that he is staying) Kansas basketball should have alot to cheer about.

I think that this was actually a good year for Kansas - they lost to UCLA in the tourney which is a great team... I think that UCLA should have been given a 1 seed personally... they are better than everyone thinks... but anyways, Kansas had a pretty good season and made it to the Elite 8 with a pretty young team - if their players stay around maybe they could challenge for a title next year

I have always said when it comes to the NCAA's "never bet on Kansas!"

Yes, they may luck up and get to the final 4 one day, but as usual they will choke.
