I had one in December and I was scared as well but after its over you think, what was I so worried about.
You come to the hospital or clinic about 2 hours before your procedure and they give you an IV and do all the paper work and then they wheel you down and tell you that they are going to give you something to help you relax. Then they wheel you in and give you the knock out meds. Then they put you in the stirrups and they put a weighted speculum, which is just to hold open the vagina, then they use a machine to clean it all out and then they make sure everything is cleaned out. After that you wake up and they wait about an hour, till you pee and eat without getting sick and then you go home with pain meds. It feels like your having period cramps, mild ones, for about a week. Good luck and don't worry.

First and fore most I am sorry for you loss. I suffered a misscarriage almost a year ago. I had a complete miscarriage so I didnt need a D&C. Though I understand you are put to sleep and they open the cervix and clean everything out. You will bleed for a few days or so later depending how far along in the pregnancy you are. If you are worried you can ask them and they have to tell you.

You get taken to theater, put to sleep, wake up and its all done. Nothing to be scared of it the emotional side that gets you not the physical. They simply remove the pregnancy by means of suction and have some bleeding but no real pain physically to speak of. Good luck dont be scared going to the dentist is way more painful.

I am so sorry for your loss. They will take you back and start an IV. Most likely they will give you something for your nerves and antibiotics. Then Then you will be dilated and they will suction out the contents. It can take 3 or more hours depending on the back log of patients.

I'll tell you what happened with mine i went in that morning and was given a bed and had to fill all the forms in consent and what i wanted them to do with the remains and then i had another scan. then they put them tablet things inside me to soften my uterus then you put a gown on and they offered me a pill to relax me, then i went to theatre and they put me to sleep i woke up in recovery, went back to the ward and a few hours later they sent me home with some leaflets and stuff.
im really sorry this has happened to you i know how hard it is and i know how scary it is knowing you have to go through that
you stay strong and keep your chin up
