Like most posted... it doesn't matter. If they are not paying attention. Your awareness and response will do more for your safety than the color of your bike. I have had and still do have Black motorcycles. I also have an '06 Yamaha YZFR1 Limited Edition(bright pearl yellow with sharp black/white contrasting graphics. They don't seem to give me any more attention. And in fact.... I'm more often bein' messed with by the "tuner cars" who wanna race through traffic on the yellow bike.

I really don't think it matters. Riding with your headlight on and driving defensively are your best weapons against cagers. It won't matter what color your bike is if they aren't paying attention. I've had three black bikes and I'm still around to answer this question. Get the color bike you like and will enjoy, but do ride defensively.

2 of my bikes were black when I bought them. 2 more became black while I owned them. I never had any problems. The bike I was riding when I got creamed was bright red with lots of chrome. It only proves color does not matter if they don't look.

I would not buy a black bike. Exchanging safety for the "coolness" factor is not a smart thing to do. A bright helmet is also really important. Just remember that in an accident, 6000 lbs > 600 lbs.

It's makes no difference, I have a black bike and I just wear bright shirts or something like that. If they don't see a black bike, they will never see a yellow one.

You can be hit on any color bike but I agree a brighter color would be more visible thus be more apt to not be run over.
Here is a site that might help as much as a brightly colored bike. with one of these on you're bound to be seen...but you might become an intentional target as bright as you'll be!

I wouldn't worry about it - the painted sections of the bike don't account for most of its visibility anyway, especially on cruisers. You'll be riding with the lights on anyway, and you can always wear a brightly colored jacket or reflective vest to make yourself stand out. Loud jackets save lives, after all... or something like that.

I've got a white Harley Sportster with the headlight on high beam and people still pull out in front of me all the time People just don't look for motorcycles no matter what color.
