NO time to cook healthy meals. After a hard day at work not many people want to slave over a hot stove and cook well balanced meals. These days everyone is sooooooooo busy! I'm a single working parent with two children and If I don't prepare 2 meals for the week on Sunday. We'll have take out or the kids will have spaghetti and meatballs from a canor hamburger helper. Our society is just too pressed for time. Well balanced nutritious meals are not a top priority any more. I just left Quick check with a chicken caesar BLT wrap. Could have been worse right? Also fresh fruits and vegetables are more expensive than ever!

This is only my opinion, mind you, but I think that for the most part, it's because people are trained to have things done fast. They don't care about what kind of food that they consume, just as long as they get it today. It's also partly the reason why people don't exercise. It's not necessarily because they are lazy or anything of that sort, but rather because they are too tied up for work that they don't want to make time to do some exercise. In other words, lots of excuses, but the bottom line, all dumb. There is absolutely no reason in the world why people can't eat healthy and exercise, cause where there is a will there is a way.

There isn't a one line answer to America's fat population. Diet and exercise are the obvious, but this can be misleading. Low-carb, fat-free, sugar-free, diet food, diet drinks cause people to get fatter. The reason is they are not natural, sugar substitutes like aspartame and other chemicals slow down the body's natural metabolism and causes countless health problems which are treated with drugs, which all have some type of side effect. Add this to no exercise, buffet bars, sodas, fast food and hours in the car each week and the pounds and flab grow and grow..

I blame the fast food chains.
If you are really concerned with it, start with an organic diet, and by sure to spread the words to your friends. The thing that is makeing us fat, is all the chemicals. Try eating nothing processed, and stuff only all natural for a week.

We love them value meals and we aren't about to jog off the extra 1500 calories that we didn't need anyway from the greaseball double-cheese add bacon hold the letuce burger with supersize fries and a pepsi.

No its mostly due to a diet high in sugar and carbohydrate packed bread products. With a good measure of fried foods and lack of physical activity thrown in.

Americans eat a lot of fat and exercise very little to compliment it. Most americans work, eat and sleep; none of which burn calories.

What a parochial America-centric view. The rest of the world is quickly catching up to us, we'll lose our lead if we're not careful....
