Hello everyone,

I am a 8th grade student and have been doing what they call "Senioridess." I have been loosing my focus in school such as not taking assignments as seriously as I was in the past. I have maintained a High Honors average for 2nd term. But now in 3rd, I havent been trying as hard.. in other words not carring as much. I want this to stop. If anyone could help me with positive ways to regain my focus in school, to help me finish the year on a high note, I would be greatful. Thanks for everything

What's with the 8th graders considering themselves seniors? Nothing wrong with that, it's just that I've never really heard of it until today, when I saw at least three 8th graders talk about graduating and being seniors... When I went to school, you weren't a senior till it was your last year of high school...

Anyway, to help you focus, just think of high school as starting something new - your high school grades are the ones that actually matter, so I wouldn't worry TOO much about this year. Find a good college that you want to get into, think about majors and such, and then use that dream to inspire you to get good grades (so that you can get into any college you want).

Or, you could bribe yourself - i.e., "If I get straight A's this term, then I will buy that new My Chemical Romance CD."

With spring here its a bad time to try to play catch up. If you haven't tried putting yourself on a schedule it might work. Give your self 2 - hour and a half periods each day to do homework and read/study. Make sure you get a break between.

Do your parents pay you for making good grades? If they don't maybe you could ask them about doing that! That would keep you focused. Think about going to the college you want to go to! Can you get in to that college with low grades.
