It can be dyed. An automotive interior repair tech can do this for you, since they handle fabrics. It is expensive- it starts at 200 and goes up to 400. But it usually looks great, and will last for years. Whatever you do, do not use bleach. It will eat away at the top when it comes in contact with the sun.
