I dont think your ready because you can not take out a chameleon and hold it. Try a geko.

They are without a doubt the hardest of all reptiles to care for. I've been in reptiles for 20 years and I still don't think I have the time and the dedication to own one. And I'm 37 years old.
Forget the chameleon and try something less intense. Like the other people mentioned, the lepeard gecko is the nicest pet lizard you can get. Super easy to care for and they live a very long time. Mine is 16 years old and still going strong and I've heard of them living over 20 years.
Research the heck out of any pet before you get one.

Chameleons are NOT easy to take care of. In the reptile department, they're high maintainance (sp?)

I'd suggest starting out with a Schneider Skink or a Leopard Gecko.

Chameleons are very difficult to care for and should not be handled if you want a lizard try a leopard gecko or bearded dragon they are very friendly and are easier to care for then other reptiles. Do a lot of research before you try and talk your parents into it, make sure you know what you are getting into.

chameleons aren't the best pets. You can't take them out or hold them. If you look at them wrong it will scare them and they won't eat for a few days afterwad. If you want a lizard then go for a leopard gecko. Thet are easy to care for and can be picked up and held.

If your mom said no then it's no!!!!!
Please don't go and get one without mom's permission, that would be very irresponsable of you. lots of kids give away animals to people who don't know how to care for them and they end up dead
