...why is everyone so paranoid nowdays? If our parents had as much health wise to worry about back in their day, hell i think we would have never been born! Tea is fine to drink, its good for you, especcially green tea. And as for coffee, well im 26 weeks pregnant and I still drink 3 coffees a day on average.. and I know my baby will be fine. I read this thing in the paper awhile ago that said they had done a research into the effects of caffiene and the baby at birth and afterwards.. and guess what, there was none. Funny that. If anything, the way people stress so much about what they can and can't do while pregnent, is going to be more damaging than any of the things they are worried about doing.
Use common sense, obviously don't drink alcohol, don't smoke or at least cut back if you have trouble quitting, and just look after yourself.

Tea is wonderful to drink because it's base is water- so you're getting fluids. I would stay away from caffeinated teas though. Try some organic teas; a favorite of mine was called "mothers milk tea." It's supposed to aid in the womans body helping you make more milk and it gives you the nutrients you need while pregnant. Not sure if the milk part really works but it takes great!!

Caffeine is a stimulant, and an addictive one at that. It has the same effect on your baby as it does on you. If nothing else, high caffeine intake during pregnancy will create an addiction in your child and force them to suffer withdrawal symptoms once they are born. Some studies have also shown a higher rate of miscarriage and low birth weight babies when the mother has had more than the 'moderate' amount of caffeine mentioned above. Herbal teas are a safer haven, with respect to caffeine intake. But not all herbs should be consumed while pregnant. Herbs such as ephedra, mugwort, and cohosh should be avoided. Stick to safer herbs such as mint, chamomile, or fruit teas. Overall, my advice would be to try and cut your coffee or tea intake to no more than one or two cups a day.

i have this book "what to expect when your expecting" and it says that there hasn't been much study on herbal teas and that its a personal decision........i would consult your doctor and see what they say......but as long as you dont drink to much caffeine you are good.......i know alot of people who drank tea well pregnant and the babies came out healthy so its all up to you and your doctor.....congrats on the baby!!!!!

Yes its fine. When I was pregnant I hated water so I drank tea. As long as you stay hydrated your fine.

Of course...especially decaffeinated herbal teas, but even the caffinated ones are ok in moderation.

As long as it's not herbal. Decaf is the best, but a little caffeine helps with migraines (when accompanied by tylenol) around the 12th week.
