What exactly is the Order of the Phoenix mentioned in the 5th Harry Potter Book?

The Order is an secret organization of wizards/witches who resist Voldemort and his followers. It's made up of all the people they mention; Dumbledore, Lupin, Mad Eye, Siruis, etc. They work together in secret to track the workings of Death Eaters, and when Voldemort returned, they worked to organize wizrards to fight him. They have to work in secret though, because not only would the Death Eaters target them, but the official wizarding government opposes them.
I feel like a huge nerd spouting all that off, but I have a deep love for Harry Potter, and that's just how it goes! :) hope it helps!

The Order is an anti-Voldemort group run by Dumbledore. It was made during the first war and brought back when Voldemort returned. They meet at 12 Grimmauld Place (Sirius's house) Some order members are: Sirius, Remus, Tonks, Dumbledore, Snape, Molly and Arthur, Kingsley and some others.

read the book. why ask questions about the book instead of just reading it for yourself. you will not get anything out of having others explain things that thru reading the book are so easily understood. possibly if you would have asked who was in the order or how do they keep in touch while far away from eachother while operating in secret it would have been a good question but this was just lazy.
