North Adelaide is nice, a bit expensive but worth the investment (considered well priced if you are coming from NSW or QLD).

Goodwood, Noarlunga, Magill & Glenelg are really nice too.

It really depends on what interests your family have, transportation needs, income, work situations, children & schooling needs.
